Asbestos is a dangerous substance and is responsible for many instances of lung cancers and other potentially lethal respiratory diseases every year. As a result, if you discover that you have – or if you suspect you may have – asbestos on your property, it is vital that you get it dealt with as soon as possible.
However, it may not be necessary to enlist a comprehensive asbestos testing, preparation, removal and disposal service. In Queensland, private individuals and non licensed organisations are in fact permitted to handle such work themselves, provided certain criteria are met.
For example, providing that the asbestos covers only 10 square metres or less and weighs up to 250kg, regulatory bodies in Queensland will enable you to handle this task yourself. You will not require a license, however, you will still be required to handle the processing of the material in a responsible manner.
This means taking steps to ensure that you have the necessary equipment, such as a DIY asbestos removal kit from Excel Asbestos. This is the only DIY asbestos solution you need. Read on to discover more.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE ASBESTOS – AFTER “SIZE OF A 10 CENT PIECE
Once you have a sample, the testing procedure can begin. This can either be handled by yourself or you can get in touch with our team to conduct the testing for you.
If you feel comfortable conducting the testing yourself, you can request a testing kit from the Excel team. It is important that you do feel comfortable doing so and that you feel confident that you can recognise the results.
Our testing kits come with detailed instructions. However, it is still important to seek professional assistance if you have any doubts whatsoever. Our testing service is relatively inexpensive – please get in touch for a detailed quote – and we can provide you with much needed peace of mind.
In many cases, the testing process will result in a negative result, which means you have the all clear to utilise and modify your property as you wish. However, in the event that traces of asbestos are picked up, the material must be removed and dealt with in the necessary fashion.
If this is the case, either get in touch with our team and arrange a low cost but highly comprehensive asbestos removals service in your area, or simply contact us and request a DIY asbestos kit.
WHAT DO OUR KITS CONTAIN? – AFTER “BUT THERE IS A MAJOR HEALTH RISK”
This is because of the nature of the asbestos. The reason asbestos is so critically dangerous to humans and to the environment is because minute fibres can escape from its structure and enter the atmosphere.
These fibres, if breathed in, can irritate the lungs and respiratory passages, causing severe illnesses including potentially lethal cancers. With this in mind, the vacuum component of the Excel DIY asbestos removal kit gives it a clear advantage over competing kits.
Brushing away asbestos residue will get rid of some of the material, but not all. In fact, it is the smaller fibres which will be left behind. These can pose the biggest risk if breathed in. Methodical and responsible removal is critical.

Disposal of Asbestos Materials
[IT IS ILLEGAL TO DUMP THE ASBESTOS-CONTAINING MATERIALS AT A TIP OR REFUSE WITH NORMAL WASTE PRODUCTS].
In order to avoid this issue, and to eliminate any hassle on your part, [WE WILL COLLECT THE BAG AND DISPOSE OF IT SAFELY]
It is possible to dispose of the asbestos material yourself but doing so means that you take legal responsibility for this. The government of Queensland has put in place several laws, rules and regulations which govern the safe disposal of hazardous materials, and asbestos in particular.
If the total mass of your hazardous asbestos materials is more than 250kg, you will need to apply for a license in order to legally dispose of it. As most clients are disposing of hazardous waste simply on an ad hoc basis, it is not worth their while to apply for a license. They would be better served using our disposal service.
If the mass is less than 250kg, unlicensed individuals will be able to dispose of the material. However, they will have to take steps to ensure the material is properly packaged and that it is taken to a designated location ready for disposal.
Failure to meet the requirements as laid down by the government of Queensland will result in the authorities taking legal action against you. It could also put the lives of yourself and others in direct jeopardy.
With this in mind, you are highly recommended to take the Excel team up on our high-quality disposal service. Not only is it cost effective, but it also avoids all manner of additional problems.

A Tailored Approach and Solution Suitable for Your Specific Situation
We understand that the circumstances of our clients are diverse and that no two stories are the same. There are many different situations which may lead you to call upon our services. We want to make sure that we can cater to all of them.
This is the ethos behind us as a company. As we have discussed above, the Excel Asbestos team places the safety of our clients and of the general public as a whole above all else. With this in mind, the products and services we offer are specifically designed to meet a broad range of needs.
It was from this ethos that our DIY asbestos removal kit was conceived. We understood early on that, often, clients are detecting only small traces of asbestos on their properties. Under Australian law, and the law of Queensland, unlicensed individuals are permitted to deal with such small levels of the material.
However, whether in a small or a large volume or concentration, asbestos still poses a significant risk to public health. This means that residents of Brisbane and other areas of Queensland must be encouraged to deal with the risk in a responsible and legally compliant way.
We aim to make this possible. Our DIY removal kit represents a low cost, highly effective, and safe solution to what can potentially be a severe asbestos problem.
In addition to this, we supplement the use of this kit with our diverse array of services, including comprehensive testing, analysis and disposal. Don’t get caught out with asbestos on your property. Get in touch with our team directly and make sure you have the right solution for your specific set of circumstances.
